Face-off for Teen Mental Health
High School Ice Hockey Game

On October 20, 2018 The Open Net Foundation will host the Face-off for Teen Mental Health High School Ice Hockey Game. Registration is open to all high school ice hockey players (Ages 14-18) with the goal to increase awareness, education, and financial support for positive mental health in teens. This event will provide a platform for families to better understand the growing rate of teen suicide and mental health concerns in our community. With suicide the second leading cause of death for people aged 15-24, we can no longer ignore the urgency to better equip our students and families with the tools and knowledge they need.

Date: Saturday, October 20, 2018

Time: 8:00 PM

Location: Fred Rust Ice Arena, University of Delaware, Newark, DE

PLAYER GUIDELINES TO ENTER: Each player must raise a minimum of $125 to play.  The top three fundraisers will be recognized with an award and gift certificate. Once you register, your school name and player name will be posted online on the Open Net web site so that you can share the link with friends and family to make donations and view progress. Donations will be taken and tracked online. Players register individually and each player will be placed on either the American and National team roster.

Prior to the game, we will meet at 7:30 PM in the Rust Ice Arena upstairs multi-purpose room and families will have an opportunity to hear from the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI will help us gain insight as to why teen suicide has been on the rise since 2005, and how we can better address the mental health needs of our teens and prevent such tragedies.

Proceeds from the game will benefit NAMI
